360 Sport News is an independent global sports publication, and we are always looking for talented sports writers, reporters, and analysts. If you can break a story, unpack a tactic, or tell the human story behind the result, we want to read your pitch.

We cover nine sports in depth: Football & Soccer, Cricket, NBA & Basketball, Tennis, Formula 1, MMA & Boxing, Golf, and Esports. Across all of them we care about the same things: getting it right, sourcing it properly, and saying something readers cannot get from a wire feed. This guide explains what we commission, how to pitch, what we offer, and the standards we hold contributors to.

What We Commission

We publish across four broad categories. We keep news, analysis, and opinion visibly separate on the page, so know which lane your idea belongs in before you write.

News & Reporting

Timely, factual coverage of what is happening: results and their consequences, transfers and signings, injuries, contract news, governing-body decisions, and developing stories. We value original reporting built on named sources and first-hand information over aggregation. If you have access, a beat, or a credential others do not, that is what we are after.

Analysis

The “why” and the “what next” behind the headline: tactical breakdowns, data-led pieces, form trends, season-shaping decisions, and explainers. Strong analysis has a clear argument, supports it with evidence, and is honest about uncertainty. We want genuine insight, not hot takes dressed up as analysis.

Features & Profiles

Longer, crafted storytelling: athlete and team profiles, investigations, oral histories, scene-setters, and the human stories around competition. These pieces reward reporting, access, and a distinctive voice.

Opinion

Clearly labelled argument and commentary. We welcome strong, well-reasoned points of view, provided they are grounded in fact and fairly represent the other side. Your conclusion can be subjective, but the reasoning that gets you there still has to hold up.

What Makes a Strong Pitch

The best pitches are specific. A strong pitch:

• Names the angle, not just the topic. “Why this signing reshapes the title race” beats “a piece about the transfer window.”
• Explains the timing. Why this belongs on the site now.
• Shows your sourcing. Who you can speak to, what data you will use, or what access you have.
• Names the category. News, analysis, feature, or opinion.
• Is something we have not run. A fresh take on a crowded story still counts.

How to Pitch

Send pitches to [email protected]. A focused email beats a finished draft: it lets us shape the idea before you invest the hours. Include:

• Subject line: lead with the sport and a one-line summary of the angle.
• The pitch: two or three tight paragraphs on the angle, why now, how you will report it, and a rough word count.
• Your clips: two to three relevant published samples (links preferred). No clips yet? Send a short, polished writing sample instead.
• About you: a couple of lines on who you are, your beat or expertise, and where you have written.

We aim to respond within five business days. If you do not hear back, you are welcome to follow up or pitch elsewhere. Rates are agreed in writing before any work begins, so you always know what a commission pays.

Our Standards for Contributors

Everything we publish meets the same editorial bar. By pitching, you agree to these standards:

• Accuracy first. Check your facts, figures, names, and dates. When we get something wrong we correct it openly, and we expect contributors to flag errors promptly.
• Named, verifiable sourcing. Attribute claims to people and documents on the record wherever possible, and be straight with your editor about anything you cannot fully stand up.
• Originality, no plagiarism. Work must be your own and written for us. Lifting copy, or recycling a piece sold elsewhere, is an automatic no.
• No AI-generated body copy. The reporting and the writing must be yours; we do not publish machine-generated article text.
• Disclose conflicts of interest. Flag any relationship, payment, or affiliation a reader might reasonably want to know about.
• Hit your deadlines. If something slips, tell us early. Reliability earns repeat commissions.

Who We’re Looking For

We commission established sports journalists, but we are genuinely open to newcomers. If you have a strong voice, real knowledge of your sport, and the discipline to source a story properly, a thin set of clips will not hold you back. What we cannot teach is curiosity, fairness, and a feel for a good story. If you bring those, pitch us.

Contributor FAQ

Do I need to be a professional journalist? No. We care about the quality of the idea, the reporting, and the writing more than your job title.

How much do you pay? Competitive per-piece rates, agreed in writing before you start. Because rates depend on the scope of the commission, we set them per piece rather than publish a fixed figure.

Can I send a finished article instead of a pitch? You can, but a short pitch is usually better; it lets us shape the angle before you commit time, which improves your odds of a yes.

What if I do not have published clips? Send a polished writing sample instead. A strong sample plus a sharp pitch is enough for us to take you seriously.

Can I pitch more than one sport? Absolutely. Many of our contributors write across several of our nine sports.
